Trains cancelled due to landslide at Yadakumari

 Hassan:  As many as 14 trains have been cancelled due to a landslide from a hill near the   Yadakumari rail line four days ago.The  repair work is challenging with 700 laborers  engaged at the siteamidst heavy  for the fourth day. Railway sources said train traffic on the Mangalore-Bangalore  route via Shiradi  will remain suspended till August 10.  Many trains were diverted on Sunday. 

A mesh  has to be put in place around the hill to prevent rocks and mud from falling on the tracks. However due to the soft mud on the hillsides the task is difficult,the sources said It is said that even with continuous work day   and night, it may take another 15 days to restore the railway line. There is no road connection to this area and all the materials required for repairs have to be brought by rail wagons.
