Manjunath Hospital doctors perform rare surgery

Hassan:  Manjunath Hospital, Hassan, has been providing valuable services for the last nine years including advanced surgeries to patients.

A hospital release stated that on July 30 this year, a 6-month-old child came to the out-patient department with hair on its back. An MRI scan was done for a nerve problem in its back, and it was diagnosed as Split Cord Malformation, which required surgery. On July 31, 2024, from 6 am to 2 pm, the child underwent a successful surgery for 8 hours on the advice of Dr. Pritam, a paediatric specialist.  “This is a very difficult surgery,” the doctors said. It was performed on the back in a supine position, with the help of nerve monitoring technology. Anaesthesiologist Dr Suhas BM said the child was currently healthy without any problems.
