Hassan: A major scam involving illegal Bangladeshi immigrants has surfaced in Hassan. Anusree, a computer operator working at the Aadhaar centre in the district office building, was caught creating fake Aadhaar cards for illegal Bangladeshi immigrants through the UIDAI system. The district collector has ordered that a case be registered and handed her over to the police. The incident took place on Friday afternoon.
Media reports of rampant infestation of Bangladeshis into India are all over the place. And districts seem no exception either. Anusree has been working in the Aadhaar centre for over two years, and is possibly part of a wider ring that is into this shady business. District Collector Satyabhama expressed concern over such scams and filed a complaint immediately with the police. The DC has also ordered an audit of Anusree’s actions during her entire tenure in the Aadhaar centre.
Method used
Those into this business will first send the Bangladeshi to an internet parlour, from where systems would be manipulated to enter data of these illegal immigrants. The commission Anusree reportedly used to charge for each fake entry was between Rs 5,000 to Rs. 10,000. The district Aadhaar officials have informed Bengaluru of this scam and Bengaluru Zonal Officer Vijayakumar, who had come to Hassan to verify the matter, has commissioned an in-depth analysis of the bug in the Aadhaar software, which enable people like Anusree to game the system.
