KPSC preliminary exam to be rescheduled

KPSC building in Bengaluru

Hassan: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has proposed rescheduling of the KPSC preliminary examination  within two months due to improper Kannada translation of question papers.

Siddaramaiah, who shared the information on X (formerly Twitter) said otherwise, injustice would be done to all aspirants. “Those responsible for the lapses in this examination have already been suspended from duty.  We are committed to upholding the integrity of the recruitment process, which will be conducted responsibly so that there is no room for any loopholes,” he said. The exam was conducted by Karnataka Public Service Commission on August 27 for the recruitment to 384 gazetted preliminary posts. Many lapses were found in the questions translated into Kannada in the question papers. Some answer choices were opposite in English and Kannada.  A few other questions had too many errors. The faulty question papers drew heavy criticism from candidates, organizations and social media. Even the candidates had expressed their outrage over the KPSC mess by making the photos viral on social media. Instead of asking for the correct answer to questions, the “wrong answer” were sought from examinees. As a result, the candidates were left confused.

The Kannada Development Authority had asked the KPSC to explain the loopholes. Some of the candidates were unable to read the English questions in the exam as they had studied for the exam in Kannada medium.  A candidate had stated that he did not even know English. This exam system of KPSC has made the candidates suspicious of malpractices.  This error had caused severe embarrassment to the state government as well.  A protest was held on Monday at Freedom Park in Bengaluru by the Karnataka Defense Forum demanding re-examination, in which KRV State President T.A.  Narayana Gowda and others participated
