Minister Kumaraswamy inspects Bhilai steel plant in Chhattisgarh, happy with its output

Raipur: Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, HD Kumaraswamy, recently visited the Bilai Steel Factory in Chhattisgarh and conducted an inspection of the unit in his official capacity.

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Chairman Amarendu Prakash, Factory Director Arbin Das Gupta and other officials were present during the inspection.

The plant is spread across an area of over 13,000 acres. The Minister also celebrated Vishwakarma Jayanti with factory workers on the occasion.  Kumaraswamy mainly visited two huge furnaces where ore is smelted, molten steel is solidified and heated.

As part of Vishwakarma Jayanti, workers in many departments of the factory performed Vishwakarma Puja.  On this occasion, the Minister, who participated in the puja along with the workers, personally wished them for a better future.

“Happy about factory”

Kumaraswamy also held a meeting with high officials after viewing the plant, which commenced operations in 1959.

“It has been a long journey.  The plant has faced many challenges thus far.  The contribution of this factory to the construction of the country is immense. I am satisfied with the activities of this factory.  However, you cannot ignore the competition faced in the steel sector.  The factory is making a huge contribution to the country’s exchequer.  The private sector is also growing at a galloping pace.  This factory should work accordingly to keep up with the competition.  I suggest everyone work with utmost commitment,” he said.

“The contribution of the factory to the state of Chhattisgarh through Corporate Social Responsibility is also immense.  I am happy with its role in the development of economically and socially backward people in society,” Kumaraswamy said.
