Hassan: In Bikkodu Hobli of Belur taluk of Hassan district, the movement of elephants has exceeded the limit and about 80 pachyderms have been seen roaming in three groups, completely ravaging coffee, banana and nut plantations.

People of this area are afraid to walk even in broad daylight, it is reported, and students, labourers and farmers are forced to remain indoors, sparking panic in the area.

People of the taluk and the office-bearers of the local farmers’ association have requested the Forest department to take immediate action to control the elephant menace.
