Hassan: MLA Swaroop Prakash called upon the youth to work for maintaining peace in the world in the current situation of conflicts and unrest.
Prakash and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer BR Purnima launched a marathon organized by various associations and organizations in the premises of the Collectorate by releasing pigeons which symbolize peace, on Saturday.
Speaking later, Prakash said that nowadays, due to various conflicts over issues, an atmosphere of peace has been lost. Wars involving Ukraine, Russia, Israel and Hamas, have heightened tensions around the world and everyone should think about putting an end to this dangerous situation.
Even in the state of Karnataka, riots are being sparked between religious groups, he lamented. The riots in various places including Mangalore and Nagamangala are examples of this. Such incidents should not be allowed to occur and it would be the responsibility of the next generation to make efforts for bringing about peace.
Everyone needs to live with love and trust by having brotherhood, and the youth should ensure that the peace and order in the country of India, is not threatened by vicious forces. In this regard, the marathon organized in collaboration with various organizations is very meaningful, he said.
Ms. Purnima said that World Peace Day celebrations should not be limited to just one day. The shanti mantra should be chanted by all every day.
“Sometimes many problems can arise due to impatience, and in such cases, chanting of the Shanti Mantra can avoid major calamities. Everyone should chant the Shanti Mantra daily,” she added.
Municipal Council President Chandra Gowda, Deputy SP Muralidhara, and HP Mohan of Indian Red Cross were among those present.
