Belur: Tahsildar M. Mamata on Friday raided some computer centers across Belur taluk, which were involved in giving Aadhaar cards to people from outside the country without proper verification of documents.

Mamata, who got information about this scam, raided the centres and registered a case.

After the fake Aadhaar card creation network was unearthed right in the Deputy Commissioner’s office of Hassan, creating panic across the district, computer centres in places such as Arehalli, Bikkodu and a Village One centre in Belur taluk were found creating fake documents for infiltrators by money laundering methods.

The district is now in the spotlight for being part of a larger network of scamsters offering support to outsiders who are trying to infiltrate the state.

It is said that such criminal activity is getting support from sociopathic middlemen who have deep networks not only in Hassan but across the country as well.

The Tahsildar said that if Indian laws were being violated to help criminal elements, strict legal action would be taken against them and such centres would be closed permanently.

Officials who sign fake documents to help illegals obtain Aadhaar cards are hereby warned that they will face the heat of the law in the coming days.

It has also been recommended, based on a complaint, that the Gram One centre of Bikkodu and Arehalli be shut for engaging in such anti-India activities.

An FIR has been lodged against another computer centre as well.

Mamata said, “It is an offence for Gazetted Officers to sign forged documents to help people outside the country in such matters. Original documents should be verified, otherwise legal action will be taken against them.”
