New housing scheme for all announced in Arasikere

Arasikere: Municipal Council President M. Sami Ulla has informed that 1,181 houses have been sanctioned for Arasikere city in 2022 under the “Housing for All” project – a joint venture between the state and Central governments.

“Already, 519 beneficiaries in the city have applied for houses under the scheme, of which 84 are from Scheduled Caste, seven from Scheduled Tribe, 205 from Minority, and 213 from General categories. Houses have been allotted to them through lottery system under the supervision of MLA KM Shivalinge Gowda, who is President of the Karnataka Housing Board.

A sum of Rs. 10 crore has been allocated for the scheme, which has been approved by the government. Basic facilities are being given to those whose houses have almost been completed while the remaining work will be completed once pending payments are fulfilled.

“It is being strictly declared that the privileged shall not be a part of this scheme, and it is only for the poor. Each house costs approximately Rs. 4,52,000. As much as Rs. 1,80,000 is being borne by the Karnataka government and Rs. 1,50,000 is being borne by the Central government towards its contribution. The remainder is to be paid by the beneficiary concerned,” Sami Ulla said.

It was also declared that 133 Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries have been paid a total of Rs. 15,96,000 from the SFC fund of the municipal council towards the housing scheme.

“In the first phase of this project, shelter has been provided to 300 beneficiaries. A shelter committee has already been formed and eligible beneficiaries applying in the coming days will be allocated houses without scope for any influence or pressure. No injustice will be practised,” Sami Ulla assured.
