Hassan: The 69th Kannada Rajyotsava was meaningfully celebrated at the city’s Vijaya School recently.
The main theme of the celebration was: Who is a Kannadiga, and, how does one preserve the Kannada identity? Vijaya School Educational Head Dr. Sri Lakshmi said on the occasion, “When we mingle with people of different languages and cultures of the world, we introduce them to our country, heritage, culture, customs, food, dress, folk songs, poetry and literature. Kannada should be preserved and nurtured for this very reason. I hope the light of Kannada
is lit across the world.”
On the occasion, an award was presented to students who wrote essays beautifully and without mistakes in a competition conducted as part of Rajyotsava.
Founding Director of the school, Tara Swamy, President of Vijaya Institute Y. N. Subbaswamy and Principal Nandisha K S were present in the programme. The entire programme was conducted by students of the school.
