
Hassan: On behalf of the Karnataka Obstetricians and Gynecologists Association, the 34th State Level KSOGA General Conference of Doctors will be held at the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences in the city, Dr. Bharti Rajasekhar, president of the association, has said.
Speaking about this in a press conference on Wednesday, she said that the convention was formed to help upgrade women’s health programmes and infrastructure.
As science advances, professionalism also needs to be developed and the role of obstetricians and gynecologists is very important in the comprehensive healthcare of women. In this regard, the 34th conference of KSOGA will be a good platform, she added.
The conference is geared towards exchanging of ideas with well-known experts and resource persons at the state and national levels. The conference is also not limited to doctors alone, but will have representatives from various verticals who share similar concerns.
An awareness programme on breast cancer and cervical cancer will also be organized for Anganwadis workers on the occasion.
In addition, under the recognition programme, a workshop has been organized on four topics to give hands-on training to nursing students through role plays and drills.
Dr Bharti said more than 700-800 representatives from many districts of Karnataka will participate in the convention.
Another noted doctor in Hassan, Dr. Sudha, said that this programme was being conducted to employ new innovations to protect women’s health.
She also cautioned women to desist from the practice of abortions. “Don’t do it,” she said, and added that awareness was being created about the severe consequences of such unnatural practices.
Dr. A. Savitri spoke to the public about cancer in general.
She said that a jatha has been organized to create awareness on the issue and this time, leaflets about cancer prevention will be distributed to people. Noted cardiologist and Bengaluru Rural MP, Dr. C.N. Manjunath, Hassan district in charge Minister KN Rajanna, Minister Dinesh Gundurao, MPs and MLAs will take part in the convention, she said.
