


Hassan: A ‘Planet Friendly Vijay Dipotsava’ was celebrated in a different and meaningful way on the occasion of Diwali at the city’s Vijaya School recently.
Rotarian Mamata Patil, President of the Rotary Mid Town, Hassan, was the chief guest for the event.
She addressed the students saying, “The best gift we can give to the next generation is a pollution-free environment. By celebrating an eco friendly Diwali without repeating the mistakes made by elders, you have set an example for others. Today, we and you have to work together to protect the environment.”
Rotarian Bhavani, head of the MBA department of Rajiv College, Hassan, addressed the gathering and said that there was a need for us all to work together to protect the environment.
Tara S. Swamy, Founder-Director of Vijaya School, said that an eco-friendly Diwali was being celebrated by the institution for the last 10 years and students were being recognized and encouraged for their spirit with badges of honour.
In the programme, students of Vijaya School sang a song about the importance of Diwali and nature conservation.
Tejaswini, a parent, narrated the story of Naraka Chaturdashi and its importance to the students.
Chandrasekhara, another parent, spoke about the concept of Balipadyami.
Environmentalist and President of Vijaya School, Y.N. Subbaswamy, academic head Srilakshmi S., and Principal Nandisha K.S. were present.
The entire programme was conceptualized and conducted by students of the school.
