A call to ‘update’ to ‘upgrade’ women’s healthcare

Hassan: A comprehensive healthcare system for women needs to be formulated by updating the advances in medical technology, a consensus arrived at the recent 34th Karnataka State Obstetrics and Gynaecology Conference held here decided.

The KSOGA conference was held at the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences Hall from November 8 to November 10 and was organised by the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Karnataka. Dr. Bharti Rajasekhar, president of the association, said that the conference was formed with the vision to “update to upgrade women’s healthcare”. 

As science advances, professionalism also needs to be developed and the role of obstetricians and gynaecologists is very important in ensuring the comprehensive healthcare of women, she noted.

In this regard, the KSOGA’s 34th conference is a good platform, she added.  

Well known state and national-level caregivers and resource persons made their presentations about modern technology and equipment on the occasion. The convention was not limited to doctors alone, as Anganwadi and health workers also participated.

An awareness programme about breast cancer and cervical cancer was organized as well. 

A workshop was organized on four topics for practical training in treatment methods highlighting the role to be played and drills to be carried out for nursing students. 

More than 800 delegates from many districts participated in the event.

Jatha organized to create awareness

Bengaluru Rural MP and renowned cardiologist Dr. CN inaugurated the programme and then spoke at length about the responsibility of doctors, and humanity in relation to the behaviour of doctors and patients, health problems caused by the modern food system, and use of new technology among many other issues.

The KASOGA thanked all the officials who worked hard for the success of the two-day conference, as well as the participating medical teams from various parts of the state.
