Hassan: The Interact Club of Vijaya School, Hassan, under the sponsorship of the Hassan Rotary Club Midtown, successfully organized a book donation drive called “One Child, One Book” recently.
The campaign aims to promote education, literacy and knowledge sharing in the community while also focusing on Rotary International Education and Law and the United Nations Sustainable Development and Quality Education programme.
A total of 2,429 books were collected in this campaign, which shows that the campaign has been a resounding success. The collected books have been categorized into various genres such as stories, novels, biographies, epics, verses, poems, yoga, personality development (including books for parents), health and cooking, study materials, yearbooks and general knowledge.
The campaign encouraged students of classes 5 to 10 to distribute tracking cards to spread awareness about the need to promote education, literacy and knowledge sharing in their communities.
Students not only contributed their own books but also collected books from their neighbours as donations to further add to the repertoire.
