Rotarians give economically challenged students of MCE a financial boost

Hassan: Students should pay more attention to education to shape their future, President of the Bangalore Rotary South Ramachandru has said.

On November 22, he presided over a scholarship distribution programme for the economically backward students of Malnad College of Engineering in Hassan.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Those who have received scholarships should adopt such qualities that will help others in the future.”

On the occasion, Ramachandru encouraged 75 talented economically backward students of the college by giving them cash assistance of Rs. 10,000 each. He said that Bangalore Rotary South is providing similar assistance to many deserving students every year and that the students should help those who are in trouble with the money they have earned after their studies.

Chandrashekhar, former president of Bangalore Rotary South and an alumnus of Malnad College of Engineering, administered the oath of commitment to the students.

Speaking later, he said students should be disciplined and self-reliant in life. They should develop altruistic qualities going forward. “The scholarship we provide will help only to some extent. If you remember those who helped you after joining your profession, you will have the desire to help others. What goes around must come around.”

Dr. A. J. Krishnaiah, Principal of MCE, spoke at the programme and said that the scholarship will help the students living in extreme poverty. He said they should study well and develop their talents and in turn develop society too.

The programme was inaugurated by the Secretary of institution, R. T. Dyavegowda.

The organizers of the programme were MCE professors and staff T. P. Jeevan, Divya, Dr. H. S. Narasimhan, Shivakumar and Chandrashekar.
