Congress sweeps Arasikere CMC by-elections too

Arasikere: Seven candidates – all from Congress – and one independent won in the by-elections held in eight wards of the City Municipal Council, which were highly contested this time around.

The winners were C. Yuvraj, Avinash, KS Revanna, KP Pallavi, Yogesh, BG Darshan, Gulzar Bhanu – from Congress- and independent Imran Khan.

It is special that all the eight winners are also new faces to the CMC.

As the election results were announced, the new members led by MLA KM Sivalinge Gowda celebrated their victory, and shared their happiness with Congress leaders and activists by bursting crackers and feeding sweets to each other.

Speaking to reporters on this occasion, the MLA said: The people of this constituency are very intelligent and have shown a pro-development stance, as evidenced by my victory in the last assembly elections and the results of the current municipal by-election. I express my gratitude to the people who have blessed us and our candidates at this hour. We will work to the best of our ability for overall welfare.”

Planning Development Authority President Arun Kumar, Block Congress Presidents Banavara Srinivas, Metro Babu, former President Ganjigere Chandrashekhar, Municipal Council Member Venkatamani, Congress leaders Subrahmanya Babu, Venkatesh, Santosh Math Vibhu and others participated in the victory procession.
