Jana Kalyana convention in Hassan to publicise Congress’ governance philosophy: DCM

Hassan: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday said that the ‘Jana Kalyana’ convention of the Congress party would be organised in Hassan on December 5 to publicise the party’s governance philosophy.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting preparations at the venue for the convention, he said, “The convention will be organised by the KPCC in association with the “Swabhimanigala Okkuta”. I would like to thank all those who are supporting this event.”

‘Opposition criticisms have died’

The DCM said, “I had in the past said that criticisms die when good work lives on. The people have supported the Congress in the by-elections through which they have sent a message to the Opposition that their criticisms are invalid. The voters have spoken and the Opposition must stop its unnecessary criticism.”

“The Opposition leaders have questioned this convention. However, the relationship between the people and the party is important and this event will fulfill that. We do the politics of livelihood and the Opposition plays the politics of emotion,” he countered.

Asked about the key message of the convention, he said, “This is a platform to respond to the Opposition parties who are constantly trying to destabilise our government. The people have already sent out their message in the recent elections.”

When asked how many people would attend the event, Shivakumar said, “This is a Hassan-centric event and the people of surrounding districts would also attend.”

In response to a question over the venue that is Hassan, the DCM said, “We have only one MLA from the district and hence we are starting with this district. Such conventions will be held in other districts too.”

When asked if the road accident which caused the death of an IPS officer would be investigated, he said, “The government is taking the incident seriously.”
