Man electrocuted upon climbing KEB pole

Hassan: A man climbed a KEB electric pole illegally and was electrocuted as a result, in Hennali village of Sakleshpur taluk recently.

His body was seen catching fire and he was writhing in pain due to the impact of electric transmission. The victim is Laxman (40) from Hennali village, and was seriously injured.

Local people just watched the scene and did little to help. Whether they could actually help is a matter of debate.

On hearing the news, however, KEB staff rushed to the spot after cutting off power supply, climbed the pole using a ladder and brought a hanging Laxman down. 

The injured was given primary treatment at the district hospital and then shifted to a private hospital.

Police visited the spot for further inquiry.

Meanwhile in Sakleshpur, chickens belonging to daily wagers poisoned by rogues

Hassan: More than 15 stray chickens died in a poisoning incident in Hadige village, Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district recently.

Poor daily wagers were raising stray chickens for a meager income, but accidentally, left them outside their establishment and went for some other work. By the time they came back in the evening, they found the chickens dead.  It is suspected that some rogues had killed the chickens en masse.

The poor families are outraged by the act of poisoning and are demanding that action be taken against whoever has done this act.

It was noticed that fire and smoke were emanating from the mouth of one dead chicken, prompting shock among locals.

They immediately informed the police upon which the cops visited the spot and inspected the precincts.

The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Sakleshpur Rural Police Station.
