“Why is there no elephant corridor despite Hassan giving country a PM and state a CM”?

Hassan: Congress party spokesperson Devaraj Gowda has accused MLC Suraj Revanna of being “mentally deranged” for publicly mentioning a closed case.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, he said that any elected representative should think a dozen times before speaking publicly. “Suraj Revanna should have had the intelligence to speak in a public forum only after talking to his family and getting clear information about the case that had happened in the past,” he said.

“Hassan MP Shreyas Patel had questioned Suraj Revanna as to what contribution he had made since becoming an MLC. In this context, there was no need to mention the acid attack case. The accused in the case was convicted and therefore it was a closed matter,” he said.

The acid attack case took place in the backdrop of a family feud between Devaraj Gowda and his brother Basavegowda.

“I myself represented Basavegowda’s son Gyanesh in court,” he said.

Devaraj Gowda also clarified that he has clear information about this and that MP Shreyas Patel’s grandfather Puttaswamy Gowda had no role in the matter.

He said the acid attack was not politically motivated but was “just a family dispute”.

He also said that the incident took place in 2001 when Deve Gowda’s wife and daughter-in-law, Bhavani Revanna, were participating in a temple worship programme.

“The accused has already served his sentence and now, it is foolish to hand him over for investigation,” he said.

“Suraj Revanna has criticized MP Shreyas Patel for handing over letters seeking action on certain issues, to various Union Ministers. Has he forgotten that his father, uncle and grandfather also have submitted several request letters to the Centre seeking action on matters in the state? To be honest, is it not laughable that the elephant corridor still remains an unsolved issue in Hassan district despite Suraj’s elders being CM, PM and Minister in the state and country? How dare he speak of Congress inefficiency? The joke is actually on his family,” Devaraj Gowda said.

Congress leaders Arif, Suresh, Tulsi Dhar, Dinesh Kumar, and Chandrashekhar were present at the press conference.
