Hassan: Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy, on Saturday visited the Hassan Airport which is under construction and inspected it.
During this visit, he obtained information about the progress of the work from airport officials and the District Collector.
On the occasion, local MLA H.P. Swarup Prakash requested the Union Minister to construct an IT park in the region for the all-round development of the district.
Relevance of Hassan
Hassan is a district with rich artistic heritage and world-famous tourist destinations. Hassan, which is parallel to Bengaluru and Mangaluru, is a district with the potential to create immense employment opportunities.
There are more than six engineering colleges in the district, and 11 diploma colleges.
There are engineering colleges in neighboring Chikkamagaluru district as well.
The national economy has created a necessity for technical graduates who come out of various colleges every year and go to distant cities including Bengaluru and Mumbai in search of jobs.
This is having a negative impact on the agricultural economy of the district. If technical graduates can get jobs in Hassan district, it will help in the economic and social progress of the region, as well as that of the district, it is widely believed.
