Youth Congress elections a sham, allege contenders

Hassan: The election of the Youth Congress district president was not conducted transparently, it has been alleged.

Therefore, the results that have been released should be stopped, otherwise we will fight the law, losers have warned the party apparatus.

Speaking at a news conference on Saturday, Congressmen Praveen Gowda, Darshan and others said that they had contested as a team of 32 people.

“The votes cast for us are more than 14,000. The counting of votes for the district president candidate Rangaswamy, who is supported by many people, however, is now raising doubts. The election is suspected to have been rigged in favour of one person. The results have been tallied in the same way in Chikkamagaluru district, where elections were also held. Such a method should be followed in Hassan too. If the election committee announces the results after listening to some influential people, there will be a protest campaign,” they warned.

They workers also demanded that the results be announced soon at the Congress office in the presence of all candidates.

“The irregularities and fraud that have taken place should be corrected immediately. Else, we will bring it to the attention of the state leadership and also take legal action,” the workers warned.

Congressmen Kantaraju, Manu and Anand Kumar were present at the press conference.
