
Hassan: The city’s Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti (BGVS) has organized a symposium on the release of the book Do we need climate change these days? published by K.S. Ravikumar and BGVS, as part of the 9th district conference of science activists on February 23, said Ahmed Hagare, executive director of BGVS district unit.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, he said that Principal Dr. H.S. Niranjanaradhya will inaugurate the programme at Gandhi Bhavan on M.G. Road in the city at 10 am.
Honorary President of BGVS district unit Dr. A. Savitri will release the book. Uday Gampter will propose the topic, and K. Rohit, lecturer of Government Pre-University College, Alur, will speak about the book.
Times School head Gangadhar, poetess Rupahasana, authors K.S. Ravikumar, BGVS General Secretary T.A. Prashantha Babu, District in-charge S. Vajramuni, and President H.T. Gururaj will participate as chief guests.
That afternoon, in the second half of the programme, a representative session will be held which BGVS State Secretary Prashantha Babu will inaugurate.
District in-charge Vajramuni will guide the proceedings, and students will be made aware of measures to scientifically solve the garbage problem in the district, climate change issues and constitutional literacy in schools and colleges.
General awareness will also be created among students through various associations.
The organizers explained that an action plan will be prepared for various activities such as a health festival, Raman Nehru Week, Science Festival, establishment of Science Centers, Science Colleges, the survival of Hassan University, the development of industries, employment creation, and preservation of lakes in the district among others.
The press conference was attended by BGS District Unit Honorary President Dr. A. Savitri, District Unit President H.T. Gururaju, Vice President Mamatashivu, Dr. H.G. Manjunath, and Chinnenahalli Swamy.
