Hassan: “It is a matter of joy that the size of our state’s budget this year is looking strong this time. Our GST collections are buoyant, showing that Karnataka – ranked second in the country – is leading in the field of commerce and industry,” FKCCI Director H.A. Kiran has said.
Speaking to the media, he said, “Regarding the agricultural sector, we welcome the establishment of an agricultural college in Mandya. In South Karnataka, Mandya is called the “sugar land”. Sir M Viveswaraya was the brain behind this revolution in agriculture owing to his brilliant water management strategies.”
He also expressed pride that Karnataka was today a state where organic production and organic crop cultivation were being practiced.
“A research centre is being opened for this purpose soon. It is also heartening to note that tier-2 and tier-3 cities are being given more priority in the budget in its new IT-BT policy,” he noted.
However, he wondered why, despite the Hassan-Belur railway line being recognized in the Central budget, the growth and development of the district has been slow.
