Hassan: International Women’s Day was celebrated recently at Navkis College of Engineering in Hassan.
Addressing the gathering, Hassan Superintendent of Police, M.S. Mohammed Sujitha, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said, “Today, women are continuously achieving big in the social, political and cultural arenas, and these achievements are a reminder of the importance of gender equality. Empowering women means creating a safe economic and valuable world at every stage of their lives.”
She continued by explaining to the students about their rights and added that they have every duty to claim them.
Presiding over the programme, college Principal Dr. M. Venugopal Rao said, “At every stage of life, a woman is a source of support – as a mother, sister and wife. It is the duty of all of us to treat women with respect.”
Programme coordinator Dr. Vinuta M.R., staff and students participated in the event.
