Women are second to none, must hold their heads high: Chief District and Sessions Judge

Hassan: Chief District and Sessions Judge, Justice Hemavati, has said there is no field in which a woman cannot excel.

Speaking after inaugurating a Women’s Day programme organized by the District Judiciary, District Legal Services Authority, and the Bar Association at the District Court in Hassan on Tuesday, she said that a woman plays multiple roles – of daughter, sister, daughter-in-law, wife, and sister-in-law, within the family, and as a friend and well-wisher outside, and is recognized as an achiever in various fields, making her unique.

“In a male-dominated society, women have achieved special milestones by showing equality in capability. Every day in fact is Women’s Day, and there is no need to celebrate it specially or on only one particular day,” she believed.

Speaking at the programme, Additional District and Sessions Judge Justice Shaila B.M. said that this was something to be proud of as women.

“In our ancient culture, we have worshipped goddesses, nature, rivers, and the earth as manifestations of feminine power.  The culture of worshipping the mother as god is the pride of our country,” she said.

The Member-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority spoke in the introduction and said that where women were respected, divinity would be present there.

On the occasion, members of the judiciary honoured employees who were working selflessly as cleaners in the court premises.

Justices Nagajyoti ML, Mohammed Ashraf Aris, Suryanarayana S, Puttaswamy KM, SA Hidayat Ullah Sharif, Anand, Ravikumar HR and Devaraju HM participated in the programme,

Bar Association President DT Prasanna and Joint Secretary R Roop were present.
