Hassan: “Just as good health can be obtained from clean food, mental health can be obtained from good literature,” Sri Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, President of the Adichunchanagiri Math, has said.
Speaking while inaugurating the first store of Sapna Book House at Gandhi Circle in the city on Thursday, the seer said if we humans read everything written as “literature”, then our minds will also be spoiled by it. Just as we choose to eat only the best food, similarly, we should also choose to read only the best literature. Discrimination is very essential.”
“Sapna Book House has brought various kinds of literature to your doorstep. Make good use of the opportunity,” he said.
“I am very happy that the 22nd branch of Sapna Book House is being inaugurated in Hassan city. In 2007, Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharnatha Mahaswami inaugurated the Indira Nagar branch of the book house in Bengaluru despite his illness. I also participated in that programme along with him. He had then emphasized on the importance of reading and the spirit of learning,” he added.
Nadoja Prof Hampa Nagarajaiah, who presided over the inaugural programme of Sapna Book House, said that literature will truly become an egalitarian experience only when books are published without caste discrimination. Today, Sapna Book House is all over the country, and it is praiseworthy for being the only book house that pays authors as soon as their books are published.
“The fact that this region has great spiritual centres such as Hassanamba, Sringeri Sharada Peetham, Shravanabelagola, Belur and Halebidu is a great reason for the revival of good literature. With Sapna Book House now entering the city, Saraswati Devi has now blessed us,” he added.
Sri Sri Shambhunatha Swamiji of the Hassan branch Math, District Collector C. Satyabhama, Zilla Panchayat Chief Operating Officer BR Purnima, Chancellor of Hassan University Prof. TC Taranath and Sapna Book House Managing Director Nitin Shah and his son Nijesh Shah were present.
